I have been assisting people with their healthcare for approximately 30 years. My interest in helping others led me to obtain a Masters in Social Work with a clinical orientation from University of Maryland at Baltimore in 1988. As a therapist with adults, children and families for many years, I used methods such as dream work, eye movement integration, and cognitive approaches.
I began to feel that this approach was missing an important element. Until recently, therapy has done little to address the body and it’s connection to mental and spiritual health.
I entered acupuncture treatment over 30 years ago. The experience opened my eyes to a bigger conversation about the meaning of health and wellness and how to achieve it. My fascination with this understanding led me to return to school to study acupuncture at Tai Sophia Institute, now the Maryland University of Integrative Health, and obtained my Master of Acupuncture in 2005.
My experience as a social worker has strongly influenced my acupuncture practice and approach to treatment. Coupled with life experience, I am particularly skilled at assisting people with anxiety, depression, sadness, stress reduction, women’s issues, PMS and menopause, and various pain related conditions including back, knee, shoulder and foot.
I am a certified National Acupuncture Detoxification Specialist and have been a member of the Maryland Acupuncture Society since 2004. I am licensed as a social worker and as an acupuncturist.
I recognize that each individual is unique and while there are common symptoms or imbalances, no two people are alike. Every treatment is specific to the individual. I welcome you to begin a journey to regain your health and improve your wellness.
